We are surviving without the USDA!………….Other governments and private sector entities have been releasing their calculations and projections of supply/demand, production and acreage and there are those who believe that a compilation of their figures do just as well as that of the USDA……………………What the USDA has a monopoly on is grain stocks yet, we can ascertain whether we are running short by watching basis levels ……………………We aren’t running short on anything right now and we’ll have to get into planting season to startle anyone into believing that we’ll run short in the 2018/2019 marketing year………………………………

Weather watching is still the mainstay when gathering information in the grain markets and other than too wet in Argentina the rest of the growing world doesn’t look too shabby………………Of course, South America isn’t as pristine and perfect as it was last month yet, foreign entities are still projecting solid corn and bean crops coming out of Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay………….

International trade deals, Brexit, unrest in France and central bank policy and directions might continue to be a major influence on grain price action and the uncertainty might be believed to paralyze participation in the trade…………………Hurry up and wait and hope and pray for a time when weather makes us move!
