In the Southern Plains trading and demand are moderate. Compared to last week

live sales in the Texas Panhandle have sold 4.00 higher at 132.00. In Kansas live sales have sold 2.00-3.00 higher from 130.00-131.00. In Nebraska trading has been slow on light demand. A few live sales sold at 133.00. In Colorado a few live sales have sold at 133.00. In the Western Cornblet trading remains inactive.

  Boxed beef cutout values are lower on Choice and steady on Select on light to

moderate demand and light offerings. Select and Choice rib, chuck, and round cuts are steady to firm. Choice loin cuts are lower while Select are steady. Beef trimmings are lower on moderate demand and heavy offerings. This afternoon Choice Cutout is .82 lower at 215.71 and Select is .20 lower at 202.00 with a Choice/Select Spread at 13.17. The hide and offal value from a typical slaughter steer for today was estimated at 12.06 per cwt live, unchanged when compared to Tuesday’s value. CME Live Cattle closed at 127.92 up 1.15. Today’s estimated cattle slaughter is 115,000, a week ago 115,000 and a year ago 109,000.
